Envision a moist chocolate cake cupcake, the kind you think about when you are craving a piece of chocolate cake. Now fill the center with peanut butter frosting filling, and cover the top with half peanut butter and half chocolate frosting surrounded by a halo of peanut butter chips. Sounds amazing, doesn’t it?
Say hello to Crumbs Bakeshop’s Baba Booey cupcake.
What better way to celebrate my birthday than with chocolate and peanut butter – two of my favorite foods?!
The peanut butter filling is creamy and smooth frosting, yet lighter than eating peanut butter alone. (It’s ok, you can admit it. If you are peanut butter lover you know you occassionally eat it with a spoon.) The amount of frosting in the center of the moist chocolate cupcake is just right – not too much, not too little – the cake does not overpower the peanut butter frosting, and the frosting is just the right amount that you will not feel overwhelmed by the filling as you eat this oversized cupcake.
Crumb’s cupcakes are notoriously oversized, essentially the size of two cupcakes together, and are called their signature cupcake. Crumb’s does sell typical sized cupcakes, or classic cupcakes, as well as mini or taste cupcakes, but you cannot purchase them individually, they come in small assortment packs.
I like to eat Crumb’s cupcakes with a fork because they’re oversized and, well, a fork helps me get a mouthful with a balanced mixture of frosting and cake. The chocolate buttercream frosting is a lighter frosting and goes perfectly with the peanut butter frosting. If you like chocolate and peanut butter you must have this cupcake in your life! A biteful or forkful with all parts of this cupcake together -ah, that’s simply cupcake bliss.
