Food is an important part of my life, as anyone can quickly see after reading my blog, and during the holidays food becomes even more important because for me holiday traditions are intertwined with certain recipes. Baking is something I learned to do as a child and it’s become the way I often show my love and friendship to others. I’m one of those people who always bakes for the holidays and who gives Christmas cookies as gifts. I even mail Christmas cookie care packages to friends in other states.
When I first read about the Marcia Selden Catering Cookie Contest on Omnomct’s website a few days ago I decided to go for it and enter my very first cookie competition. Not only are there some great prizes, but I also knew this was another way for me to share one of my favorite Christmas cookie recipes.
How does the competition work?
Cookie recipe submissions are accepted from December 4-10th on Marcia Selden Catering’s FaceBook page. The judges will choose their top 6 recipes on December 11th.
The top 6 will each prepare 5 dozens cookies for the second part of the competition – an ultimate holiday cookie party, which is open to the public, on December 15th from 2-3:30pm at Winston Flowers in Greenwich.
That’s right, YOU can come and sample the competitors’ cookies and enjoy refreshments!
Who are the judges?
Lisa Maronian of Sweet Lisa’s Exquisite Cakes in Greenwich.
John Barricelli of SoNo Baking Company
Chef Plum of Plum Love Foods in Newtown and a recent winner of Guy’s Grocery Games on the Food Network.
Robin Selden, Executive Chef of Marcia Seldon Catering
